WE WON THE UK GREENER FESTIVAL AWARD!

December 7, 2023

This year at the UK Festival Awards last night we were shortlisted for the UK Greener Festival Award & Transport Impact Innovator Award.

We didn't quite grab the gold for Travel this year... BUT WE DID WIN GREENEST FESTIVAL IN THE LAND for the 2nd year running!

Praise was heaped on Green Gathering's pioneering festival community for pushing the boundaries of what's possible over the decades since our birth in the 1980s, when solar power was still rare magic. Thank you ALL for being part of that.

GG director Em Weirdigan had great chats with festival folk from Barn on the Farm (Best Small Festival) and Wild Rumpus (production company behind Just So and Timber) during the Freight Island feasting and frolics at the award ceremony. It's not often we mingle indoors, being field people essentially, so this was all quite thrilling!

Steve Muggeridge, our longest-standing director, did likewise at the Access All Areas Awards in London - where we were shortlisted for the Legacy Award but were pipped at the last - and he'll be at the LIVE Music Awards next week, where we hope to be voted Greenest (watch this space!).

Why do we even care about winning awards?

Well, it's not really for the glamour! The rigmarole is worth it though, because the hype around awards encourages new people to come along, be inspired, make connections, get creative and make positive changes to their lives and communities.

That's the real legacy of what we do, and that's what matters.
