cafes & stalls

we’re passionate about bringing together the most ethical, creative, gorgeous and unique off-grid festival traders...
You’ll find handmade, upcycled and one-off wares, and locally sourced, lovingly prepared food. Our Green Markets have been meat- and fish-free since 2011; half of our food stalls are purely vegan and most of the others have extensive vegan choices. Carnivores barely notice it's a vegetarian festival because the food is so varied and such great quality!

We have wood-fired pizza, vegan ice cream and fresh fairtrade coffee carts; authentic South Indian, Sri Lankan and Middle Eastern flavours; organic veggie breakfasts, grilled toasties, pancakes and cakes galore.

We ask our caterers do a child-friendly meal for a fiver or less, and they all make an effort to use local ingredients. More than 50% of the menu is organic at most food stalls. We aim to have at least two entirely gluten free stalls and several more with a big range of GF options.

The Green Markets are bursting with handicrafts, upcycled and vintage clothes, useful tat and beautiful treats. We have a refill shop selling plastic-free basic foodstuffs and cleaning products, and we always invite Tat 4 Tibet which sells organic fruit, veg and snacks alongside pre-loved clothes and bric-a-brac, from a gorgeous vintage bus.

We combine regular traders with new recruits, creating a vibrant marketplace with real community atmosphere. And we treat our traders well, with a cuppa at Trader HQ on arrival!

We run an Ethical Trader Award scheme

Our traders do an amazing job of working with us to operate in the same way we do. Often they're already on it - but we love that sometimes, we help traders and cafes develop new low-impact practices which they then take on to use at other festivals too.

To thank them for the hard work, we run an award scheme. It's so hard to choose!

OUR 2023 GOLD AWARD WINNERS:
Ice Green
Celia's Herbals

OUR 2023 SILVER AWARD WINNERS:
Wild Daisy
Chai Shop Organic

We’d also like to shout about Lalita's, Rolling Oats, Veggies Catering Campaign, Get It Here and The Big Fab Clothes Stall – all super ethical traders who’ve won our prestigious awards in the past and are regulars in our Green Markets.

TRADERS: If you’d like to trade at The Green Gathering, check our Contact Page for application forms from early December. Application deadline is 31 Jan. All our traders provide their own electricity from renewable sources… or use none. No generators!
Our trading conditions set high standards. Pitch prices depend not just on pitch size but on a trader’s wares – prices and provenance – and the number of crew and vehicles brought along. So don't email and ask for the pitch price - fill in an application form!
