Outstanding!
Green Gathering organisers are delighted to announce that the festival has been awarded Greener Festival Outstanding Certification 2023.
The certification was achieved following a rigorous assessment process by not-for-profit sustainability specialists A Greener Future (AGF). The assessment involves detailed analysis of areas of sustainability such as transport, energy and power, waste, water usage, local environment, CO2 and food and beverages and involves an on site visit by qualified AGF assessors.
‘Outstanding’ signifies a truly outstanding and inspirational event. These are exceptional events which have significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions, have excellent travel, transport, food and waste management programmes, protect the environment and minimise water use, and communicate this to the public.
“The Green Gathering shows a systemic commitment and dedication to sustainable practice and innovation, and applies continuous improvement throughout their festival. Sustainable behaviour change, communication and education are embedded into the design and production of the event. From purposeful waste separation, to moth spotting, to a plate and cutlery hire initiative, to their free shop and plastic free produce stall for traders and attendees - it is clear that the event considers sustainable practices when making any and all decisions for the development of the festival and this is evidently their core purpose’” - AGF
