Described as ‘the love child of Laura Marling and Alanis Morissette’, Izzie creates strong and uplifting songs that capture the spirit of what it means to be a young woman in today’s world.
Over the past few years Izzie has performed headline shows all over the UK and supported artists such as Fairport Convention, Olly Murs and John Grant. She has performed at venues including Coventry Cathedral, Resorts World Arena and Alex James’ house, as well as performances across the mainstream festival circuit.
After several record releases Izzie has not only received a great deal of support from her local BBC Introducing, but has also been played on BBC Radio 6 as part of a festival music show.
Izzie performed in public for the first time at the age of 15, after which she was immediately offered several gigs, including a spot at the Godiva Festival. Since then, she has performed in venues all over the UK and released 5 records. Izzie moved from her hometown of Coventry in 2017 to live on a boat in Brighton, where she joined forces with her band which has allowed her to enhance both her live performance and the instrumentation on her records.
The first release they worked on together was her EP ‘Lost At Sea’, released on the 24th April 2019. These 5 tracks take us on a journey of self-discovery, finding inner strength and growing up. In-keeping with her raw and natural sound, the EP was recorded live at a church in Hove, East Sussex.
The single from ‘Lost At Sea’, entitled ‘Learn To Grow’ managed to reach the ears of Grammy Award winning Producer Roger Lomas, who expressed an interest in working with Izzie. Together they created a re-mix of her track ‘Learn To Grow’ which was released in January 2020. They then continued to work together on her latest EP ‘Take It From Me’ which was released in February 2020. They recorded in Roger’s studio, where everyone played at the same time which Izzie claims: ‘allowed everyone to bounce off of each others energy, which gave the tracks rawness and a great vibe’.
This EP has been described as ‘her best yet’ in many reviews, as Izzie explores new genres, new arrangement styles and writes from her most mature perspective yet. Izzie’s latest endeavour has been her debut album, which she managed to crowdfund in early 2022. During the lockdowns Izzie began reflecting a great deal about life and past mistakes and through that the album was born. She stated: 'I think this made the songs on the album a lot more emotional and personal'.
The sassy songs are twice as sassy and the deep and meaningful tracks go deeper than ever before’. Once the songs were ready and her crowdfunding was complete she worked with her band and local Brighton studio ‘South Lanes’ to record, mix and master the album. Izzie took the lead on the production and arrangement.
