ANNA ANISE

After spending time in Galway this winter, Anna Anise is back with a new celtic-inspired sound.

Anna’s powerful vocals tell untold stories of female empowerment through the ages, accompanied by traditional whistle and fiddle. Anna Anise studied songwriting at the British Institute of Modern Music in Bristol, where she was no stranger to such stages as Thekla, The Trinity Centre, The Fleece and Lost Horizon.

Over the years she’s been moving through the firesides of South West festivals, honing her sound and chasing her path of re-working traditional folk tunes by folding them next to catchy sing-along choruses. Anna explores the numerous sides that exist to a story, challenging perspectives and putting into words feelings we find hard to describe. Unpacking themes from consumerism to womanhood, her attentive yet assured songwriting sheds new light on the relatable.
