The Green Gathering has been awarded £25,000 by Arts Council England as part of the government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund, to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and emerge with a sustainable future.
This funding means good things for our festival this year. It will mean we can extend our venues to give you more dancing space, and create a dedicated team of cleaning pixies to monitor touchpoints. We’ll be able to buy screens to keep our incredible Box Office and Bar crews safe, even more handwash sinks and sanitiser stations – essentially, it will help us with all the extra costs involved in making sure this much-needed gathering will be a safe space for all.
You might remember that we recently conducted a survey asking what our festival goers want at the festival to feel covid safe. This new grant will be used to make sure what you said you needed is there.
The Green Gathering is one of almost 3,800 cinemas, performance venues, museums, heritage sites and other cultural organisations dealing with the immediate challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
The funding awarded today is from a £400 million pot which was held back last year to ensure the Culture Recovery Fund could continue to help organisations in need as the public health picture changed. The funding has been awarded by Arts Council England, as well as Historic England and National Lottery Heritage Fund and the British Film Institute.
We have also been offered matched funding by a generous friend who noticed our Covid Crowdfunder didn’t quite reach its target.
The ‘matched’ part of this means that for every £5 donated by our community in April & May, our generous genie will also give us £5 – up to the grand total of £1000.
This will help us deliver the colourful, joyful festival we all deserve – because it’s not all about plumbing and sanitiser stations, is it?!
To put your coins into the magic hat, go to our Ticket Shop, scroll down & click on DONATE. We’ll tally up the total and report back…
THANKYOU TO EVERYONE SUPPORTING US THROUGH TOUGH TIMES
